Yes, GECS is a participating partner of the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC); successful completion of GECS courses qualifies each participant to receive a certificate of course completion from EIC and GECS showing earned CEUs, as authorized by EIC, which maintains, in its registry, a record of CEUs earned by course participants for up to seven years.
What is EIC?
The Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC) is the national federation of self-governing Canadian Engineering learned societies. EIC is a member of IACET and an authorized provider of courses providing Continuing Education Units (CEU). It reviews the program of organizations offering continuing engineering education in Canada to ensure compliance with IACET criteria by its participating partners.
What is IACET?
The International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), based in Washington, D.C., USA is the international organization entrusted with setting specific
rigid continuing education criteria for all of its members offering continuing education program to the public.
What are CEUs?
CEUs are internationally accepted uniform units of measurement of qualified professional development courses in continuing education. One CEU is awarded for each 10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction and qualified instruction, according to the established IACET criteria and monitored in Canada by the EIC.
What is the value of CEUs?
Many professional organizations recognize the value of CEUs earned by its members; some even require certain levels of continuing education upgrading, measured in CEUs, as a condition of continued membership and hence professional status.
